By profession, I navigate the fast-paced world of technology, where every day brings new challenges and opportunities. But beyond the confines of the tech sphere, there’s another realm where I thrive – land and real estate investment. My journey into the world of property investment began long before I ever stepped foot into the corporate world.
Growing up, my family was always involved in the business of owning and managing properties. From rental units to farm and ranch land to undeveloped lots, our family portfolio was modest but diverse. These early experiences instilled in me a profound understanding of the intrinsic value of land, the potential it holds for generating prosperity, and the promise of a better future.
A spirit of wanderlust and the need to explore and see the diversity in geography and landscape across the country fuel my desire to experience land and property on a personal level.

Ancestral Footprints: Pioneers and Settlers
As I trace my lineage back through the generations, I discover a legacy of courage and adventure that echoes my own aspirations. One such ancestor, my great-grandfather Nathaniel Avery (on horseback on the left), epitomized the spirit of the American frontier. He seized the opportunity presented by the Oklahoma land rush of 1891, staking his claim amidst the chaos and uncertainty of the era. Nathaniel’s story is just one chapter in a saga of exploration and settlement that runs through my family tree.
Later, his son, my grandfather Bill (center front row), laid down roots in the heartland, carving out a life as a cattle rancher and rental property owner while also holding down a day job in the central plains of Kansas. Each successive generation faced its own trials and triumphs as they provided for their families, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and determination. Their stories serve as both a source of inspiration and a reminder of the potential that lies within each of us.
Tales from the Trail: A Literary Heritage
In addition to my family’s pioneering spirit, there’s another facet of our heritage that has left an indelible mark on my life – storytelling. My great-grandmother, B.M. Bower, was a prolific author whose works captured the essence of life in the American West. Through 65 novels penned in the early 1900s, she transported readers to a world of rugged landscapes, daring cowboys, and untamed wilderness.
But Bower’s stories weren’t merely works of fiction – they were deeply rooted in her own experiences and adventures. From her early days roaming the vast plains of Montana to her later travels through Idaho, Washington, and Oregon, she drew inspiration from the landscapes and people she encountered along the way. Her tales of hardship and heroism resonate with me on a personal level, fueling my passion for exploration and discovery.
In the rich tapestry of my family history, I find both guidance and inspiration for my own journey. Whether navigating the ever-changing landscape of technology or charting new territory in the world of real estate, I am guided by the lessons of the past and fueled by the promise of the future.
